You can't go wrong with a tomato pasta sauce! Cheap and versatile.

Did you know that adding Vitamin C such as tomato aids in the absorption of iron from the lentils and, not only that, onion and garlic also help in absorption too?

Got some left over? No problem! This sauce can be frozen for another day.

Tomy Pasta Sauce Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp preferred oil
  • 1 medium onion (finely chopped)
  • 2 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1 tbsp tomato puree
  • 200g tin tomatoes
  • 400g can of green lentils (rinsed and drained)
  • 1 tbsp water (for Step 1)
  • 200ml water/pasta water (for Step 4)
  • 1 tbsp of Little Supper Club Tomy Pasta Sauce Seasoning
  • ½ tsp salt (optional 12+)

Instructions

  • On a medium heat, add oil to a pan add onions, garlic and water. Cook 1-2 mins or until onions start to soften.
  • Lower heat, throw in the tomato puree, green lentils, tin tomatoes and Little Supper Club Tomy Pasta Sauce Seasoning. If using, add salt.
  • Lid on, simmer for 15 mins. Stir occasionally.
  • Add the water/pasta water into the sauce then blitz with a hand blender for 30-60 secs or to desired texture.

Notes

We encourage you to serve Little Supper Club Tomy Pasta Sauce blitzed to a lumpy texture instead of a smooth pureed sauce. Serving a wide variety of textures to your little as early as possible is an important skill for them to learn and may help curb any fussy eating in the future.
